Getting Started

Students must register by phone (337-234-9100) the month prior to the course’s start date.  All courses & start dates are listed in the course calendar.

No application is necessary.

All books must be purchased by the first day of class.

Students may elect to register for certain courses without the desire to pursue the Certificate in Religious Studies.


Academics

Covenant Institute’s Certificate Program is a non-degree education curriculum designed for laypeople, ministers, and educators who desire a structured and directed way to study biblical and theological subjects.

The Certificate in Religious Studies is comprised of twelve one-credit courses, which can be completed in approximately two years.  Upon completion of the certificate program the student will be prepared with a well-rounded knowledge of several areas of Religious Studies including: Apologetics, Philosophy, Systematic Theology, Bible, Church History, Homiletics and Hermeneutics.


Class Times & Location

All classes are taught on Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Covenant Baptist Church.  1700 E Willow St, Lafayette, LA.

Classes are available via distance learning for approved students.


Grading

The scores earned on the final test, the final project, weekly quizzes and the reading assignments determine the grade for each course. 

Covenant Institute operates on a ten-point grading scale. 

In order to earn credit toward the certificate in religious studies the student must earn a minimum of a 2.00 GPA in each course. 


Costs

Covenant Institute is dedicated to offering a quality education at almost no cost.  Students must purchase their own textbooks and are encouraged to donate to the Institute.  However, there are no tuition costs.
